Have you taken your medicine, dear Traveler? We hope so, otherwise we'll have to send in Nurse Larry. And you certainly don't want that, now do we? Wouldn't want you to get the Improper Dose like the character's in today's tale, written by filmmaker, writer, and award winning artist-Adam McDaniel.
Adam McDaniel is an unapologetic nerd and movie geek.Growing up in Connecticut and New Jersey, he was drawing at an early age and won several regional art competitions. While still a high school underclassman, he sought out a two-year television production and editing internship with a local cable company -- the youngest intern they had at that time.
McDaniel attended Vassar College, where he won honors at various festivals for his student film work, and received the college's academic film and cinematography prize upon graduation. He then served as a technical director and set designer for several theatrical stage shows, and as a production designer and cinematographer for independent films and documentaries.
Since moving to Los Angeles, he has worked extensively in film and television for such companies as Disney and Warner Bros. He's currently a project manager for digital graphics and effects at DELUXE, handling high-profile titles (WHEEL OF TIME, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER) and key art for Disney.
McDaniel’s artwork has been featured in several galleries and publications, and at special events held by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and Paris Games, among others. He also studied traditional, hand-drawn animation under Don Bluth (The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail).
As a writer, McDaniel's screenplays have garnered nearly 40 festival and contest honors. His first novel, How To Succeed in Heaven Without Really Dying, was published in 2002.
He is currently directing AMSEL: ILLUSTRATOR OF THE LOST ART, a feature documentary about the late illustrator Richard Amsel, known for his movie posters such as RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, THE STING, THE DARK CRYSTAL and FLASH GORDON.
We hope that Adam has more for us in the future!
